Summit Carbon’s Iowa CO2 pipeline has been approved
The Summit Carbon Solutions base pipeline project (HLP-2021-0001), has been granted approval by the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB).
The company has stated that, ‘this approval represents a significant milestone not for just Summit Carbon Solutions, but for the entire agriculture industry as it seeks access to new and emerging markets, like sustainable aviation fuel, by lowering ethanol’s carbon intensity score (CI).’
This approval has occurred directly after the Summit’s North Dakota pipeline permit reapplication hearing was successful. This hearing occurred in the presence of the North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC).
Now that the company has been successful with two separate projects, Summit Carbon Solutions has decided to create partnerships with fifty-seven ethanol plants, which are based throughout five states. On top of this, the company has also signed voluntary easement agreements with 75% of Iowa landowners who are based along this route. It has already been stated that Summit Carbon Solutions will be working with these landowners on a daily basis.
CEO of Summit Carbon Solutions, Lee Blank, commented, “The momentum will continue as we prepare to file our South Dakota permit application in early July. We look forward to engaging with the state throughout this process and are confident in a successful outcome.”
