Northern Lights JV, recently received the newly built liquefied CO2 carrier, which is managed by “K” LINE.
This vessel is the second of its kind to be involved in the Northern Lights project, which is the world's first full-scale CCS project. “NORTHERN PIONEER” is the first vessel, which was completed in November 2024 and now, once this vessel and the second vessel ‘NORTHERN PATHFINDER’ are both in Norway, the vessels will commence with mechanical commissioning activities. These activities will be based at the carbon capture facility, located in Brevik, as well as at the receiving terminal in Øygarden.
On the 15th of January, whilst on the way to Norway, the vessel was provided with LNG fuel by LNG Bunkering Vessel “FUELNG BELLINA”. This system was also operated by the “K” LINE Group and this operation was held at the Singapore bunker hub.
Currently the “K” LINE Group is moving forwards with its own journey around low-carbon and carbon-free initiatives. A large aim for this company, is to move forwards with these initiatives, whilst aligning with their long-term guidelines concerning the environment, “K” LINE Environmental Vision 2050.
