A new collaboration between Honeywell and AM Green is focused on CCS and aviation fuel in India
)
It has been announced that Honeywell and AM Green have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and the project’s feasibility study is due to conclude by mid-2025. The MoU was signed during India Energy Week 2025.
Throughout the collaboration the companies have agreed to focus on assessing the techno-economic feasibility around using ethanol to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green methanol from a variety of carbon dioxide emissions sources and finally, green hydrogen.
Together the companies will work to find opportunities in which they can enhance India’s energy security. Furthermore, they will simultaneously, look for opportunities around reducing dependence on crude oil imports, plus they will focus on helping to position the country as a competitive global exporter of green methanol. Doing this will help shipping companies when it comes to adopting this low-emission alternative fuel. Finally, the companies will also aim to aid airlines to meet CORSIA mandates for low-carbon, drop-in fuel replacements.
It is clear that this is an excellent collaboration, as it creates huge benefits for Indian farmers, as it creates demand for ethanol feedstocks. However, on top of this, the partnership also supports the government's National Green Hydrogen Mission. This mission is dedicated to boosting green hydrogen production through green methanol for domestic and export use.
President, Honeywell India, Ashish Modi, commented, “The collaboration with AM Green will help advance India’s low-carbon economy and create an ecosystem that supports the government’s SAF blending mandates, positioning India as a global leader in alternative fuel innovation. By combining Honeywell’s proven carbon capture technologies and ethanol-to-jet solution with AM Green’s expertise in green hydrogen and ethanol production, we will pave the way for a sustainable future and reinforce our commitment to environmental stewardship.”
Co-Founder and Group President of AM Green, Mahesh Kolli, added, “We are delighted to partner with Honeywell, which is one of the world’s largest technology companies that is positively shaping the future of energy. This partnership demonstrates AM Green’s emerging leadership position as a global clean energy transition solutions platform while contributing to India’s ambition of emerging as an exporter of reliable, sustainable and lowest-cost green molecules and its derivatives accelerating industrial decarbonization globally.”
