ESG Clean Energy’s patented technology proves it can increase CO2 capture rates to more than double

ESG Clean Energy has developed innovative technology, which has already proven that it is able to increase the amount of captured carbon per pound of absorbent by at least double. This result is not only impressive, but it is also an improvement which has the potential to significantly alter the industry and future carbon capture projects.

This technology, developed by ESG Clean Energy, is a water removal system, which is made up of an advanced ceramic membrane, which is incorporated into a unique mechanical cooling system. The benefits of this system, include that it has been deliberately designed to be used on large and small systems, whilst it can also be retrofitted onto current operating power plants.

So far, testing has been carried out at ESG’s 4.4MW gas-powered generation plant, which is located in Holyoke. This site is dedicated to powering the local electrical grid. Furthermore, now that the technology has been proven successful, ESG has announced its plans to implement this new and forward-thinking technology throughout all of its planned facilities. Plus, on top of using it within its own technology, the company has also licensed the technology to a subsidiary of Camber Energy, making it appropriate for use throughout all of Canada and also within multiple locations within the United States.

This whole discovery started after the company chose to start testing its carbon capture prototype, after they finished testing their water removal system. ESG began this testing process, with the use of zeolite, which is a common absorbent material often used for capturing CO2. After testing the combination of this system and material, the results expressed that the addition of the water removal increased carbon capture by 100% per pound of absorbent. This is a significant and important breakthrough, as this could mean that the size and cost of carbon capture systems are significantly reduced and this change could lead to the systems becoming easier and more economical to implement.

Now that this success has occurred, it has also been stated that further tests are still being carried out. These tests are occurring at the facility in Holyoke and the person running the tests is the Zero Carbon power systems.

President of ESG Clean Energy, LLC, Nick Scuderi, commented, “These results represent another significant milestone in the development and commercialization of our clean energy system. We were confident we would see these numbers, but it is nice to have them validated with data from an operational unit and finally see the proof in our design.”
