CycloneCC’s supply chain is completed by agreement between Carbon Clean and Julius Montz
Julius Montz (Montz) and Carbon Clean recently announced an innovative and strategic supplier framework agreement.
Carbon Clean is well-known as a leader when it comes to revolutionising carbon capture solutions and Montz is a German company that is owned by Koch Engineered Solution (KES), a global engineering company. The main market for decarbonisation solutions that Carbon Clean is focusing on, is hard-to-abate sectors, such as cement, steel, refineries, and energy from waste. Alternatively, Julius Montz GmBH is focused on mass transfer solutions, like structured packings and trays, as well as process systems for the chemical, fine chemical, and oleochemical industries, and pharmaceutical and medical industries. On top of this, Montz also focuses on offering technology solutions for renewables, alcohol, food, and solvent recovery.
Now that Carbon Clean’s end-to-end supply chain for manufacturing its modular CycloneCC technology, which includes the columnless C1 series that was recently launched, is in place, the project is a step closer to full commercialisation and this is a very large step.
Within this framework agreement, Montz will create a robust supply chain for the packing technology of the rotating packed beds (RPBs) in Carbon Clean’s modular CycloneCC technology. The metal packing that this company has designed, is patented and it sits with the RPB, as this was the centrifugal force created by the RPB intensifies the absorption of emitted carbon dioxide, therefore amplifying the high performance of Carbon Clean’s proprietary APBS-CDRMax solvent, as well as the metal packing.
It is planned that the RPB packing technology is due to be manufactured by Montz in Germany, specifically Hilden. From there it will then be distributed via global facilities that are owned by Koch Engineered Solutions, this will guarantee fast and efficient regional transportation. Furthermore, CycloneCC is prefabricated and is also skid-mounted, plus it is delivered on road truckable modules. On top of this, the unit’s standardised, modular design makes it incredibly easy to install and integrate on site.
A final part of the agreement includes the fact that Montz will work with Carbon Clean’s Research and Development (R&D) team in order to optimise designs, whilst CycloneCC is developed with the intention of meeting the needs of the fast-changing market. During this strategic agreement, it has been stated that Carbon Clean will have access to a variety of KES internal capabilities globally, which will allow them to continue to explore innovation possibilities for both commercialisation and for the scaling of the CycloneCC technology.
Chair and CEO, Carbon Clean, Aniruddha Sharma, commented, “Signing this agreement with Montz completes the final piece of the jigsaw for our CycloneCC supply chain. This is an important step towards the product’s full commercialisation, accelerating the global deployment of industrial carbon capture. Montz’s proven, specialist expertise, combined with Koch Engineered Solutions’ global footprint, strongly positions Carbon Clean for delivery at scale. Today’s announcement illustrates to customers, partners and investors how we’re meeting demand for CycloneCC.”
Managing Director, Julius Montz, Sairam Potaraju, added, “This is a win-win partnership, not only for KES and Carbon Clean but also for our customers, as it aims to make carbon capture technology affordable, modular and scalable. This agreement aligns with our philosophy of deploying our advantaged capabilities to high-impact opportunities and breakthrough technologies. We look forward to continuing this exciting journey with Carbon Clean.”
