Following a very successful launch in October last year, Carbon Capture Technology Expo is back in Bremen, Germany this year and will take place on October 19-20. 

Despite strict Covid restrictions, last year’s carbon capture exhibition and conference attracted over 2,700 people. 

The trade fair has seen a significant increase in the number of exhibitors, with Baker Hughes, Air Liquide, Shell and Equinor among the many well-known names in the industry who will be showcasing their latest innovations. 

The conference will feature more than 150 speakers (including hydrogen subjects) discussing wide ranging topics, such as the impact and potential of CCS on achieving global climate mitigation targets and commercialisation and carbon pricing and taxing. Learn more here.

The two-day trade fair and conference will bring together leading engineering firms, technology manufacturers and suppliers, energy firms, the oil and gas sector, heavy industry, chemical companies, various manufacturing organizations, research groups and NGOs, consultants, and government bodies to explore how we can rapidly accelerate the deployment and commercialization of carbon-removal technologies as a key solution on the pathway to net-zero carbon emissions.

In addition, there will be ample opportunities for networking, potentially leading to key partnerships.

Co-Located with the World’s Largest Hydrogen Exhibition and Conference  

Registering for the event will also give attendees access to the world’s largest hydrogen exhibition and conference, Hydrogen Technology Expo, as the events will be held side by side. 

Developments in both sectors can work hand-in-hand to decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors and reap the environmental and economic potential of carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) technologies. 

Although a disconcerting fact, around 80% of final energy consumption comes from burning fossil fuels in vehicles, industrial plants, boilers and power plants. Decarbonising these emissions requires a combination of technologies. 

Several organisations such as the Intergovernmental Panel on ClimateChange (IPCC), International Energy Agency (IEA) and National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) have highlighted the importance of CCS and carbon removal to limit warming to below 2°C as indicated in the Paris Agreement. 

The EU Commission’s strategic long-term vision, it’s strategy to be climate neutral by 2050, relies partly on CO2 removal techniques based on CCS. 

Global Leaders at the World Economic Forum 2022 have shown strong support for carbon capture technologies, with the First Movers Coalition, a group of global companies with purchasing power to scale-up decarbonising tech, pledging a $600 million investment in carbon dioxide removal by 2030. 

Although CCS has been around for some time, it has never before gained as much support and investment.
