Camber energy achieves 100% CO2 capture from power plant emissions

It was recently announced that Camber’s wholly-owned subsidiary, ESG’s carbon capture system, made a huge breakthrough. This breakthrough involved the system achieving 100% capture of the CO2 from a combustion exhaust stream. Doing this made it possible for any internal combustion engine, of any size, to have no carbon dioxide emissions.

This system operates through separating water from the exhaust stream first and this resulted in making zero-carbon power generation possible.

The innovative system is a patented process which belongs to ESG and it follows a two-step process. This process involves removing the water from the exhaust and then capturing the CO2. The process of drying the exhaust has the effect of more than doubling a CO2-absorbent’s capacity and it also enables 100% of the carbon, that has been used, to be captured, plus it also reduces the size and cost of the system. This was all stated by ESG.

ESG purposefully designed the system to be suitable for both large and small systems, ensuring that it can also be easily retrofitted onto current operating power plants, whilst it can also be applied to mobile applications. The innovative water removal system consists of an advanced ceramic membrane incorporated into a unique mechanical cooling system. In order to operate efficiently and effectively, the carbon capture system utilises readily available low-cost solid absorbers which are nontoxic and easy to handle. This results in the entire system being extremely versatile and also energy efficient.

Testing has already been conducted and this took place at the company’s 4.4MW gas-powered power generation plant in Holyoke. This plant also serves the local electrical grid.

ESG Clean Energy has already outlined the next steps within their plan, which includes implementing this technology throughout all of their planned facilities. Furthermore, the company has also licensed the technology to a subsidiary of Camber Energy, where it will be accessible to all of Canada and multiple locations within the United States.

President of ESG Clean Energy, LLC,  Nick Scuderi, commented, "This is a huge milestone for our development team and one we have been anticipating for a some time. It's great to see the proof and the data that shows we are able to capture 100% of the C02 from an internal combustion engine."
