Bayou Bend CCS project will receive support from Worley
Worley has been chosen to provide support to the Bayou Bend CCS project and these duties will include designing and evaluating CO2 gathering, handling and sequestration facilities for the Bayou Bend CCS joint venture. This project is located along the Gulf Coast in Southeast Texas.
The Bayou Bend project is a joint venture which is owned by Chevron, Talos Energy and Equinor. The entire project also includes a CO2 storage footprint of almost 140,000 acres of pore space.
It is due to the gulf Coast’s heavy concentrations of CO2 emissions within the US, which highlights how important this project is when it comes to helping hard-to-abate industries meet their climate goals. These hard-to-abate industries include businesses such as refining, cement, steel, chemicals and manufacturing. Therefore, the ability to sequester carbon along the gulf coast will also help to support a broader national effort to create a reduction in carbon emissions.
Group President, Americas for Worley, Mark Trueman, commented, “We’re committed to a strong partnership with Bayou Bend, drawing on our global CCUS knowledge and project execution experience. Innovative projects like Bayou Bend will potentially enable CCS at scale and help many more companies achieve their net zero goals, supporting Worley’s purpose of delivering a more sustainable world.”
